UGANDA: A-1 Challenge , Marines off for regional tourney

UGANDA’S basketball giant sides Nkumba Marines (men) and A-1 Challenge (women) leave today for the East and Central Africa basketball Club Championships.

The regional championship will be held at the Nyayo stadium from April 24 to 30 in Nairobi,Kenya.
Nkumba Marines who have largely been sponsored by Nkumba University leave aboard Akamba bus, while A-1 Challenge will travel by Busscar and Scandinavian Bus services who also sponsored them. Mega Pix, Kenya Airways, Kaga Ltd, and Castle Lager are the other companies that supported A-1 Challenge.

“ We are going to play our hearts out and give a good account,” Nkumba’s Sports Tutor Patrick Ssebuliba told Daily Monitor yesterday. The MTN League women champions A-1 Challenge have showed some steady improvement and togetherness over the years also vowed to go all out.

“ We must give our best,” said senior player Rosette Meya. According to the organisers, 12 teams from six countries have confirmed participation. Teams from Kenya are; Co-operative bank, Ulinzi Warriors and KCB Lions(men), Sprite Storms, KPA (women).
