NIGERIA : Lagos City League gets one-week postponement

The second edition of the Lagos City league has been put forward by one week due to logistic reason.

The league which was originally schedule to commence this weekend at the sports hall of the Rowe Park Sports Centre, Yaba will now start next weekend while teams that have shown interest in the league are expected to complete registration formalities as stipulated in their letters.

According to chairman of the Lagos State Basketball Association, LSBBA, Babs Ogunade that the postponement became inevitable because some teams actually pleaded with the association to allow them more time to prepare.

The City league is designed to compliment the national premier league of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF and to provide an atmosphere for non-premier league teams in the state an opportunity to play in an organized competition to prepare for future challenges.

Other major objective of the city league as postulated by the LSBBA top shot is for the discovery of more talent for the state and by extension the country.

The league is to accommodate twelve male teams and six female on a two-leg basis during the regular matches while the top eight in the male and top four in the female goes through to the knock out or playoff stages.
