NIGERIA : Vmobile League: Lagos Schools in Play off Train

The play off series for the Vmobile Premier Basketball League billed to start tomorrow at the National Stadium, Lagos will take a different style as selected schools in Lagos and the environs will feature in the off court shows for the matches. And to this event 40 private and public schools in Lagos have specially invited by sponsors of the league Vmobile and the Nigeria basketball Federation (NBBF) to take part in the play off shows.
“The play off will be followed by the final matches in Lagos. We hereby invite your school to participate in the Vmobile Basketball National premier League Play-offs and final games in view of the great interest and passion shown by your students for the game of basketball,” the letter to the schools reads in part.
The schools were carefully selected from amongst those with serious basketball culture just as Vmobile explained that the invitation could be expanded to more schools in and outside of Lagos from next season.
The students could feature in such side attractions as free throws and three pointers with quality prizes available for take home.
“But the important thing is that there is something for every school; there is something for every student. The students will be well catered for so even for those who would not be able to take part in such free throws, there will be something to take home. They will be well entertained and their security well planned out,” a member of the organising team told THISDAY yesterday.
Some of the schools invited include the Kings and Queens Colleges, the Lebanese Schools, Indian and Turkish schools, the Bells Ota and Maryland Comprehensive College. There are also Ronik College Ejigbo, Chrisland College Idimu, Corona schools and ADRAO in Victoria Island.
The matches will hold through the weekend with the opening game between the Union Bank team and Ebun Comets. The top two teams from the Atlantic Conference will qualify for the national finals.
