THE FUBA classic league tips off on April 14 at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium, Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations president Ambrose Tashobya has confirmed.
This will be a week after the annual Makerere University Open tournament, which acts as a curtain raiser.

Tashobya explained the league has been delayed due to unavoidable circumstances. "All we want is a very exciting and competitive league, so that's why we are taking it slow but sure. We therefore call on all teams to hand in their registration forms by Friday (today) to ease the process," the former Kyambogo Warriors star revealed.
The newly elected president further disclosed that they are in the process of putting in place guidelines for transfers.

Acknowledging the fact that most clubs were vanishing because of losing their star players to bigger teams, Tashobya said; "University sides in particular benefit a lot from the transfer market because they have incentives. But in the near future we may dictate that a club doesn't lose more than two players, as a way of ensuring continuity."

Meanwhile the transfer window that promises some surprise transactions will be open till the first day of the league, and no business thereafter.
