By JOYMARIA MAVURA and MILLY SANGA

THE Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) has announced players forming the Dar es Salaam 'Dream Team' for the East African Inter-City Games, which start in Nairobi today.
TBF's General Secretary Lawrence Cheyo said yesterday that the team would leave today and that the games will end on 27 May.

He named the players and their positions as Ashraf Harun (JKT), Mohamed Yusuph (Savio) and Mohamed Mbwana (Chang'ombe Boys), who are Points Guards.
Shooting Guards are Jacob Marenga and Mohamed Ally (both from Vijana), the Small Forwarders are George Tarimo (Savio) and Edmund Pastory (Mgulani), he said

He added that the forwards are Alphonce Maboko (Pazi) and Oboto Mwambongo (Vijana) and Tumsifu Apolo (JKT), Gilbert Batungi (ABC) and Alex George (Tanzania Prisons) will dominate centres.

"The team is trained by two coaches - Bahati Mgunda and Tubert Matiku," he said
Meanwhile, TBF president Richard Kasesela has said that the NCCA basketball team is expected to visit Tanzania soon.

Young Life Trust of Tanzania and Young Life Trust of America have sponsored the NCCA team to come and play and motivate the youth of Tanzania.
Kasesela also said that through NCCA, Hasheem Thabit got a full sponsorship to go to the US.

He urged the Tanzanian youths to follow Hasheem's example by showing their skills since TBF was co-operating with various regional leaders to scout for people with good basketball skills and introduce them to the programme.

"Education goes hand in hand with basketball so people should not expect full sponsorship without having the spirit to study," he added.
