UGANDA : Fuba Decision Abnormal - Rhino

FORMER player, coach and now Charging Rhino official Robert Ndamagye has expressed surprise at the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association's decision to relegate the club following the federation's technical committee's ruling last week.

"It will be a surprise if we are relegated," Ndamagye, who had not been informed yet, said after the news was broken.

Ndamagye who led Rhino to their only championship as a coach player in 1997 said: "It would be devastating news but I only hope that the federation stayed in line with the rules and regulations," he added.

The Rhino thought they had survived the drop, finishing third in the top division last season but the committee ruled Tuesday that the best and last three finishers in the three men's divisions in the 2007 will be promoted and relegated respectively.

Rubaga Miracle Centre's Basketball Ministries will meanwhile host the MBC Challenger Series February 29 - March 2 with co-sponsorship from Rwenzori Beverages.

The sixth annual pre-season event will have the participation of some of the best teams in the country.
