TANZANIA : Basketball Federation in Cash Woes

by Suleiman Jongo

The possibility of Tanzania under 17 basketball team to compete in the inaugural zone five championship that takes off in Kampala on August 10, still hangs in balance.
Basketball Federation of Tanzania (BFT) secretary general Lawrence Cheyo said his body is experiencing shortage of funds to field teams in the tourney.
Cheyo estimated that about Sh20 million is needed to facilitate participation of gender balanced teams.
He also attributed the non-participation to short notice from the organisers.
"It's too short of a notice and we could have assembled the teams if we had enough funds," he said.
However, Cheyo said the federation's executive committee would meet soon to examine the situation.
Countries expected to compete in the event are Kenya, Sudan, Burundi, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Egypt and hosts Uganda.
A refereeing course is expected to be conducted while the tournament is in progress

Habría sido más feliz con un imitacion relojes movimiento automático por lo que los segundos la mano habría barrido para que se vea mejor, pero todavía me alegro de que lo tengo.
