ANGOLA : Germany tame Angola in Spain

German Junior National Team rebounded after the starting loss at the Vilagarcia Basket Cup and celebrated the first success at the tournament. Yesterday the German youngsters overcame Angolan counterparts to gain the initial win in Group A. Danilo Barthel (204-F-91) delivered 14 points to pace the European side. Emanuel Antonio answered with 14 points for Angola as they slipped at 0-2 record.
Angola followed the scenario of their first encounter. They opened the game in a cruising manner winning the first quarter 16:8. But the charge soon ran dry and Germany took over in this one. They accounted for 28 points in the second frame and gained a 3-point halftime lead. The fierce battle in the third quarter saw no change as Germany headed into the final term up by just one point. Germany looked too good defensively in the final period limiting their counterparts to just 8 points and claiming a confident victory at the end. Falko Theilig (180-G-92), Philipp Neumann (206-C-92) and Konstantin Klein (185-G-91) contributed 11 points apiece in the win. Islando Manuel had 12 points for Angola. Eduardo Ferreira (194-F-90) finished with 9 points in the loss.
Angola will now take on Spain, while Russia will face Germany in the third round.
