CAPE VERDE : National Team: Adingono Cape Verde's new National team Coach

The Cape Verde Basketball Federation should introduce Lazare Adingono as their new coach at the end of May.
According to the President of the Federation, Kitana Cabral, negotiations are in the final stages, which means, if all goes well, the coach should arrive on time to prepare the team for the 25th Africa Nations championship for men to be played from 05th to 15th August 2009 in Libya.
The Former Rhode Island star and international coach resigned as assistant coach of the Canisius men's basketball team in April. He was in his third season at Canisius and coached the Cameroon national male team in Afrobasket 07 and in the Olympic qualifying tournament.

Adingono won several team awards following his senior year at Rhode Island, and later spent three seasons with the team as an assistant coach.

A native of Cameroon, he previously played on the national team before taking over as coach. In 2007, he coached the squad to win a silver medal -- the nation's first in 34 years- at the FIBA Africa Championships and clinched a berth in the Olympic qualifying tournament in Athens the following year. Cameroon was knocked out of the qualifying tournament after losing both preliminary round

For the official presentation of the coach and the team, the Federation plans to organize an international tournament. The tournament already has the guaranteed presence of the New Zealand national team, and two more National teams from Europe and Africa will also be present.
