TRIPOLI, LIBYA - Rwanda’s mission of finishing inside the top eight at this year’s Afrobasket championships in Libya was blown apart after narrowly missing out on a quarter-final slot.

Just like Cameroon, Central African Republic (CAR) and Morocco, Rwanda amassed nine points after the round of eight but their inferior point difference meant that they could not progress into the quarters.

Rwanda grossed a point difference of -3 while CAR and Cameroon raked in 57 and 33 respectively to join group leaders Senegal and Tunisia in the last eight.

In the other group, Angola, Nigeria, Mali and Ivory Coast progressed to the final eight.

Rwanda will however, carry a lot of positives from their round of eight campaign were they won two of their three games.

Apart from the Central African Republic 64-85 defeat, Rwanda took the tournament by storm after registering convincing wins over pre-tournament favourites Cameroon and Senegal.
