UGANDA : Lengthy break worries Warriors

Two wins in as many MTN-Fuba League games should send Kyambogo Warriors into bliss. Somehow, coach Mandy Juruni wants the next game to come quickly just to keep the momentum. But the fixtures don’t allow it.

After pounding newly-promoted Heaters 81-39 on Saturday night at YMCA court, last year’s losing finalists have a lengthy hiatus until the date against champions DMark Power on June 3.
“When the team is winning, everyone wants to play and keep it going. Unfortunately, we won’t get that,” Juruni said.
Their next opponents are slightly better placed as they play Heaters in five days time having last played mid-last week.
However, Juruni will have no complaints about the start Eric Malinga has had to the season.
The forward followed up his 23 points in the 87-67 rout of UCU Canons by dropping another 18 and five rebounds against Heaters.
“My plan is to conduct high intensity practice so that players don’t relax,” the coach added.
His team broke no sweat in sweeping all four periods 18-10, 15-6, 21-15 and 27-8 respectively with Heaters still looking like a team in a rush to return to the lower echelons.
