Nairobi ladies team retained their Inter Cities Basketball tournament after a deserved 66-48 (12-8, 15-16, 13-15 and 26-19) win over hosts Kampala in an entertaining final match played on Saturday afternoon in Kampala Uganda.

The men’s edition of the same tournament was won by Kenya’s Mombasa City who defeated Uganda’s Mukono in the finals. The men’s title was last won by Nairobi who did not feature in this year’s tournament due to financial constraints.
Kenya dominated the best player awards with Hilda Luvadwa of Nairobi being named the Most Valuable player of the tournament while Chris Abuja of Mombasa City was named the best player in the men’s category. Kampala’s Martha Soigi was named the best defensive player for the ladies and Mukono’s Naftali Msongoti the best defensive player in the men’s competition.
Hilda was outstanding in the five day’s event scoring most of Kenya’s points to ensure the reigning champions took back their title on an unbeaten form. She scored 17 points in the finals.

In the men’s 3rd and 4th play offs Uganda defeated South Sudan’s Juba 94-81 in a closely contested match while Mukono beat Tanzania’s Moyo to win 3rd spot in the ladies edition.
