UGANDA : FUBA postpones games, demands stadium opening

FUBA postpones games, demands stadium opening by WednesdayFollowing the denial of access to Lugogo Indoor Stadium (MTN Arena) by MTN officials for FUBA to have league games played at the facility, the basketball governing body has postponed all games scheduled for the weekend. All leagues games in all divisions were affected regardless of the venue. The position was reached during a highly publicised meeting of game stakeholders on Saturday at Lugogo.
A task force was also formed to discuss the way forward. "We have formed a task force and we will use all ways and means such that by Wednesday we access the stadium" FUBA president, Ambrose Tasobya said. The federation also demands the official position of MTN on the matter as the body (FUBA) claims this comes down to individuals in MTN. "It's not a policy of MTN to stop games, it's individuals. We demand MTN for an official position" Tasobya, added.
In a task force meeting, the way forward agreed upon was to draft a letter on Sunday (today), copy different individuals and petition the house on Wednesday, if nothing is done by Tuesday a source said. The federation will also take the legal route against MTN or individuals in the company after MTN has made its position in this matter clear for the damages caused.
