ZIMBABWE : Harare basketball league in full swing

Things are heating up in the Harare Basketball League as Mbada Amazons and Cheetahs have hit the ground running after three rounds of matches in their leagues.
REPORT BY RANGANAI DZOTIZEI
Women’s outfit Amazons, who are in their debut season, have surprised all and sundry and are undefeated in their last three matches with their 43-33 win over Real Returners last time, a clear indication they are not in the league by mistake.
They were scheduled to play LA last night, hoping to consolidate their 100% start to the season.
The same can also be said about Cheetahs, who are wreaking havoc in the men’s section with some breathtaking displays.
Cheetahs’ last victory, a 63-31 demolition of UZ Stars, underlined their credentials and the team seems to be getting better with each game.
The same however, cannot be said of Cameo who, despite the presence of Erick Banda, who is back from the United States, have not had the best of starts.
Two defeats in their last three outings have put them under immense pressure and they hope today’s home match against UZ Stars would get their season back on track.
In today’s fixtures, Drifters would be hoping to make it two wins in a row when they face ZB Spartans at Richwood while Mablazo and South Central hope to bounce back from last week’s defeats when they square off in the day’s early game.
In the women’s league, Platinum Ballers, smarting from a 43-32 loss to JBC last weekend, host Pistons while Green Stars have a date with UZ Stars in a full programme of fixtures.
