Kenya and regional basketball queens Eagle Wings will face Interclub from Angola in the semi finals of the ongoing women Africa Club championships in Morocco. Eagle Wings defeated rivals USIU Flames also from Kenya 83-66 in the quarter  finals played on Wednesday.
Eagle Wings had to stage a powerful comeback after first quarter loss (12-25) winning the remaining three quarters (26-15,21-11,24-15). This served as sweet revenge for Eagle Wings less than two weeks after losing to the same side in the semi finals of the domestic league campaign in Nairobi.
“ We have given this tournament our best and reaching the semi finals is not an easy feat in a continent full of top class clubs. We appreciate this far we have come and hopefully we will get to the medals bracket this year round. It has been a long journey.” Says Samba Mjomba a member of the Eagle Wings team.
Despite their team’s loss, USIU’s duo of Emma Nyakweba and Hilda Indasi were the highest scorers of the match with 26 points each. Eagle Wings’ Silalei Shani had 18 points and Brigid Nanzala had 14 points.
