RWANDA : KBCs Buzangu Credits Teammates for Award

AFTER finishing the just concluded league season with the highest numbers, Kigali Basketball Club forward Mike Buzangu has credited his teammates for his achievement.
"Basketball is a team sport, so without full support and contribution of your teammates, there is no way you're going to succeed as an individual, nonetheless I am delighted to have won the award and I hope to do even better next season," Buzangu said in an interview.
The former APR player finished the 2013 season as top scorer with 294 points, while Espoir's Guard Bievenu Ngandu was named the Most Valuable Player.
Buzangu helped the 2011 league champions KBC to finish in second position in the regular season league and was also instrumental in pushing the team to the final of the Playoffs finals, where defending champions Espoir won 3-1.
"I am happy with the award, but what is most important is that the team has been growing in the last two years or so, the whole team played so well throughout the season," he told Times Sport on the courtside after receiving his award.
He added, "I must congratulate my teammates for the effort each one of us put in even if we didn't win the title, and we have to congratulate Espoir for retaining the title, they have been outstanding the whole season. Next season, we (KBC) want to go all the way and lift the title."
He said his success has been built on team effort where everyone connected to the club, from players, coaching staff, management and the fans, played an important role.
"We didn't start the season very well but the team grew stronger as the season progressed, we did our best to win all games but we failed at times because the opponents were better."
