It has been over two weeks since Uganda Christian University had a game in the university basketball league. Their matches in the other conference – Ndejje, have completed their regular season schedule with a perfect 8-0 and 6-0 records.
The title favourites will be back in action on Saturday as they play host to a number of Conference A games that get underway from 2pm onwards.  Not only does UCU hold perfect records in the league, they also lead the league in point average with men’s side averaging over 88 points per game and the women 92 points per game both with 4-0 records.
The high scoring Mukono based institution will be up against Uganda Matyrs University (UMU) and Makerere University.
Makerere will also be up against playoff hopefuls Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) and the Kisubi Brothers who have endured a rough welcome into university basketball.
Meanwhile, it was another tale of depressing familiarity for the Kisubi Brothers when they visited Uganda Martyrs University on Tuesday for their fourth game of the regular season.  The Brothers who had shipped in an average of 62 points in the previous games seemed headed in the same direction after three quarters – indeed they got there and supersede the mark suffering their second biggest defeat of the season in the 89-32 loss to the hosts.
On Wednesday the games headed east to Bugema University. Kisubi Brothers along with Bugema University were the only teams without wins in the men’s conferences before they faced off on Wednesday when the ZUBL went to Bugema University for the first time. The Brothers got their first win on Bugema’s own concrete. Thanks to Kellian Ochens game high 17 points they got a 50-49 edge over their hosts.
Bugema joined the other universities as they got their first win (out of conference) on Thursday against IUIU at Makerere.
