KENYA : Women premier league playoffs resume January 17

The rescheduled Kenya Basketball Federation women premier league playoffs for the 2014 season will resume on January 17, 2015 with semi final fixtures.
Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), Sprite Storms, Co-operative Bank and United States International University- Africa (USIU-A) will all battle out for the crown.
The feminine playoffs had to be delayed after KPA and USIU-A were involved in international assignments.
KPA and Storms played two games over the weekend in Nairobi with game three slated for January 17 in Mombasa.
The dockers lead series 2-0 after 67-41 win in game one and 61-24 in the second played Sunday. KPA led 29-13 at the breather.
Helen Oketch scored 16 points for KPA and Yvonne Akinyi 12. Storms’ highest scorer was Mercy Wanyama with 9. USIU-A and Co-op Bank will play back-to-back games from January 17- 21 in the best-of-five series second semifinal.
The finals will commence on January 24 and run all the way to February 8. In case defending champions KPA make it to the final, they will enjoy homeground advantage in the first two games.
USIU third
Meanwhile, USIU-A finished third in men premier after defeating Co-op Bank 60-56 in the playoff game played on Sunday. Victor Bosire had a game high 18 points for USIU-A while James Mwangi scored 10 points for Co-op Bank.
It was a game of two halves. The students won quarter one and two 9-8 and 20-11 respectively.
The bankers scored 16-15 in the third and 21-16 in the fourth. Kenya College of Accountancy- University (KCA-U) took up third place in division one after edging out Dankind Academy 57-48 in the playoff.
Alphonce Muchiri top scored for KCA-U with 21 points and Joel Ntambwe for Dankind with 19 points.
KCA-U led 27-26 at halftime after winning first quarter 12-11 and the second tied at 15-all. The students won remaining quarters 14-13 and 16-9.
