TANZANIA : JKT Stars Reach Basketball Semis

JKT Stars stormed into the National Women's Basketball Championship semifinals after mauling Lord Baden Powell 66-37 at the National Indoor Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday evening.
JKT topped Group B to set a semi-final showdown against JKU of Zanzibar who finished second in Group A. The two teams were in action last evening. RBA League champions JKT Stars were too strong for Lord Baden Powell.
They dominated the game from the start and piled up 19 points against their opponents' nine in the first quarter before leading 41-23 at the breather.
The defeat confirmed Lord Baden Powell's exit from the championship, while giants JKT and Vijana advanced to the semi-finals from the group. Asha Chege posted 14 points for the winners, while Penina Mahunga and Nelly Anyingisye added 13 and 12 points respectively.
Anyingisye also had eight assists. JKU went through with a 58-11 victory over Kurasini Queens at the same ground. In another match, Ukonga Queens suffered a painful 92-31 defeat to Jeshi Stars.

Ukonga Queens found themselves in the middle of problems after they went down 19-17 in the opening quarter and were 43-19 down at the interval.
Jeshi Stars continued to dominate the game after half-time to lead 26-6 in the third quarter and were ahead 32-6 in the last.
